בעיתונים J Pharmacol Exp Ther 2003 Feb 11 , Onkologie 2002 Oct;25(5):406-11 התפרסמו עבודות, על סמך ניסויים בעכברים עם תוצאות מרשימות המצביעות על הפחתת הצורך של העכברים בניקוטין. בשני המאמרים נמדדו ריכוזי הניקוטין במוח העכבר וההעובר עכבר.
