The European Commission has granted marketing approval for a once weekly regimen of NeoRecormonÒ (epoetin beta) in anaemia related to cancer. This approval was based on new data recently reported at the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma in Lugano, Switzerland from the NeoRecormon Once Weekly (NOW) study. In the study a weekly dose of NeoRecormon 30,000 IU given subcutaneously to cancer patients was found to correct anaemia in the majority of cases. It was also found to offer the same efficacy as the three times weekly regimen.
