Patients who have both nasal polyps and allergic rhinitis have elevated levels of both immunoglobulin E (IgE) and interleukin-13 (IL-13), according to Dr. Nabil Rizk.
“We are trying to better understand the pathogenesis of nasal polyps so that we can treat it more effectively,” said Dr. Rizk, associate professor of otolaryngology at the University of Mansoura in Mansoura, Egypt. “Therefore, we sought to determine whether there were differences between allergic and non-allergic patients with nasal polyps.”
