Baxter International Inc. has warned kidney dialysis providers not to use certain tubing with its Meridian dialysis machines after reports of five patient deaths and two injuries, US regulators announced on Thursday.
The incidents occurred at Nephrology, Inc. in Mishawaka, Indiana and Physicians Dialysis, Inc., in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The two hemodialysis centers may have used the following blood tubing products: Medisystems Corp., product code D3-9694/9793 or K3-9694/9793, and Baxter product code 5M9694.
