The association of a late wave of metastases with failure to control localized prostate cancer after radiation therapy supports an aggressive approach to local therapy, according to a report in the August 1st Journal of Clinical Oncology.
“I think that a firm understanding of the two theories [of prostate cancer metastasis], both of which assume a relationship between local control and distant metastases, is critical to understanding our article,” Dr. John Coen from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts told Reuters Health.
