In hormone-refractory prostate cancer, weekly docetaxel and intermittent estramustine provided effective pain control, high activity and acceptable toxicity.
The results were presented October 20 at the 27th annual meeting of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Dr. U. Steiner of the Universitätsklinikum Benjamin-Franklin, Berlin, Germany, presented an updated analysis of a multicentre Phase II study in 41 patients with hormone-refractory prostate cancer. The primary endpoints for the study were quality of life and pain control. Secondary endpoints were response to treatment (prostate specific antigen response), overall survival and toxicity. This analysis focused on pain control, response and toxicity.
