Britain’s drug cost-effectiveness watchdog on Tuesday backed the use of modern drugs that are less likely to cause side effects in people suffering from schizophrenia.
Patient groups have complained that doctors have tended to prescribe cheaper anti-psychotics first, only switching to the newer so-called “atypical” drugs if patients cannot tolerate the old ones.
