Furthermore, investigators report in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society for October, substituting short-acting benzodiazepines for longer-acting agents at best only marginally decreases fall risk. And using selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) instead of older tricyclic antidepressants may actually increase the risk.
