NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 04 – Even during their pain-free periods, migraine and cluster headache patients exhibit higher plasma nitrite levels than do healthy control subjects, according to a recent report.
Since, nitrites are a breakdown product of nitric oxide, the current findings suggest that nitric oxide not only plays a role in the acute phase of migraine and cluster headaches, but that it is also involved in susceptibility to attacks.
