The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved aripiprazole for the treatment of schizophrenia, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Japan’s Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. announced last Friday evening.
Aripiprazole will be widely available under the tradename Abilify within 2 weeks, the firms said.
