NEW YORK (MedscapeWire) Apr 15 Fluoxetine is safe and effective in body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) with or without delusions, according to results of a randomized, placebo-controlled trial in the April issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry.
"Available data suggest that this disorder may respond to serotonin reuptake inhibitors," write Katharine A. Phillips and colleagues from Butler Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. "However, no placebo-controlled treatment studies of BDD have been published."
