DELHI (Reuters Health) Jul 29 –
An area of muscle wasting surrounded by hypertrophic muscles lateral to the scapula–dubbed the valley sign–may be a new clinical marker for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, according to researchers in India.
Dr. S. Pradhan, writing in the June issue of Neurology India, says the sign is evident even in patients without conspicuous calf muscle hypertrophy, a diagnostic clinical feature of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
