NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 24 –
The duration of diarrhea is substantially reduced among children given supplemental zinc, according to a report in the May issue of Pediatrics.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled study involving 1792 Nepalese children (ages 6 to 35 months) with acute diarrhea, Dr. Halvor Sommerfelt, of the University of Bergen, Norway, and colleagues examined the effectiveness and efficacy of giving three times the
recommended daily allowance of zinc.
