NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 17 – Children and adolescents with asthma show multiple errors in handling their metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) and underutilize peak flow meters (PFMs), researchers report in the April issue of the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
"We found that a large proportion of children experiencing an acute asthma attack did not properly use an MDI with spacer," lead author Dr. Richard J. Scarfone told Reuters Health. In addition, "peak flow meters, although often used properly, were underused by this group," he said.
