NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 15 – If they survive the first decade of life, most children who are vertically infected with HIV seem to be in relatively good health, according to a European study.
As reported in the April 1st issue of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, Dr. Marie-Louise Newell, from the Institute of Child Health in London, and colleagues characterized the status of 34 HIV-infected children who were enrolled in the European Collaborative Study and survived 10 years or more. The median age of the study group was 11.4 years.
