Tympanic membrane resurfacing with a CO2 laser is a simple and effective treatment for refractory chronic granular myringitis (CGM) in children, according to a recent report.
Mild forms of CGM can often be treated with topical antibiotic/corticosteroid drops, study author Dr. Roland D. Eavey and colleagues, from Harvard Medical School in Boston, note. However, for relapsing cases or cases refractory to medical therapy, treatment options are limited, especially in children, who are often uncooperative with therapy.
