Hypertensive retinopathy is predictive of coronary heart disease (CHD) in middle-aged, hypertensive, hyperlipidemic men, researchers report in the September issue of the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Tien Yin Wong from National University of Singapore and colleagues prospectively studied 560 such men participating in the Lipid Research Clinic’s Coronary Primary Prevention Trial. They documented 51 CHD events during a median of 7.8 years.
