NEW YORK (Reuters Health) –
In patients with amblyopia, the lifetime risk of vision loss due to impairment in the non-amblyopic eye is at least 1.2%, higher than previous estimates, according to a report published in the August 24th issue of The Lancet.
Dr. Jugnoo S. Rahi, from the Institute of Child Health in London, and colleagues used a national surveillance program to identify all UK residents from July 1997 to July 1999 with unilateral amblyopia who recently developed vision loss in the non-amblyopic eye. A total of 370 individuals were identified. The follow-up period was 1 year
