An investigational therapeutic dendritic vaccine is well tolerated, stimulates immunity, and is showing signs of clinical benefit in patients with advanced metastatic HER-2 positive breast cancer, according to results of a Phase I trial.
John Park, MD, of the University of California, San Francisco, Comprehensive Cancer Center in San Francisco, California, United States, presented the results here on December 12th at the 25th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
To create the vaccine, autologous antigen presenting cells (APC) were collected by leukapheresis and loaded with BA7072, an antigen construct consisting of recombinant sequences from both the extracellular and intracellular domains of HER-2 fused to human granulocyte colony stimulating factor.
