Xyotax, a polymer-bound form of paclitaxel, is well tolerated in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer, according to the results of an ongoing phase II trial reported on Friday.
Xyotax, also called CT-2103, is designed to produce fewer side effects, because its polymer form selectively targets the paclitaxel to tumours, researchers from the Seattle-based biotech firm Cell Therapeutics reported. The study has enrolled patients who are either elderly or have a poor performance status.
