The new oral anti-angiogenic drug SU011248 has proven unexpectedly effective in early human studies, shrinking tumours by half in 25% of patients, researchers reported on Wednesday.
A team led by Dr. Eric Raymond from France’s biggest cancer centre, Institut Gustave Roussy in Villejuif, conducted a phase I trial of SU011248 in patients with a range of advanced solid tumours unresponsive to standard treatment.
