Early treatment with epoetin alpha can improve overall quality of life in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, an Italian researcher reported on at the European Society for Medical Oncology congress.
Dr. Paolo Pronzato, from Ospedale S. Andreas East in La Spezia, presented the findings of an phase IIIb study looking at the effects of epoetin alpha (Eprex/Erypo; Ortho Biotech/Janssen Cilag) on hemoglobin levels and quality of life.
