Cognitive deficits arise in a significant proportion of long-term adult survivors of bone marrow transplantation for hematologic malignancy, according to a report in the July 1st issue of Cancer.
The conditioning regimen used in association with bone marrow transplantation can increase the risk of neurologic complications and delayed encephalopathies, the authors explain, but the development of such late complications is not well documented.
