New three-dimensional volumetric interpolated breath-hold magnetic resonance imaging (3D VIBE MRI) can image the whole body in less than 15 minutes and may replace other modalities for tumor staging, according to a feasibility study in the August issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology.
“We can acquire data on the brain, thorax, abdomen, pelvis and femur during a series of seven scans that can be done in rapid succession,” lead author Thomas C. Lauenstein, from University Hospital Essen in Germany, says in a news release. “No relevant metastases were missed.”
