Riboflavin supplementation does not appear to effectively lower plasma homocysteine (tHcy) in elderly people with sub-optimal riboflavin status.
Irish researchers identified 52 elderly individuals with sub-optimal riboflavin from a community screening of 101 healthy elderly adults. Sub-optimal riboflavin was defined as erythrocyte glutathione reductase activation coefficient of at least 1.20.
