Low Mannan-binding Lectin Associated With Negative Pregnancy Outcomes

Low maternal serum levels of mannan-binding lectin (MBL) are associated with negative pregnancy outcomes in women with recurrent spontaneous abortion, according to a report in the November issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“Previous studies have reported that low MBL levels might be associated with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion,” Dr. Christina Kruse, of Aalborg Hospital, Denmark, and colleagues note. They examined the genetic background for this finding, and the impact of low MBL levels on future pregnancy outcomes.
