Alcohol Consumption Increases Risk of Breast Cancer

Alcohol may have cardioprotective effects, but daily consumption of alcoholic beverages can increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer, according to a report published in the November 18th issue of the British Journal of Cancer.

One unit, or 10 grams of alcohol per day, raises a woman’s chances of developing the malignancy by about 7%, while smoking does appear to increase the risk.
