Britain’s High Court ruled on Monday that the government should reconsider its denial of tokens to buy formula milk for HIV-positive asylum seekers with infants.
Although breastfeeding increases the risk of passing HIV from mother to child, asylum seekers are not entitled to income support or milk tokens that would allow them to reduce the risk by substituting formula milk, said Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG), a charity that supported the woman’s case.
