NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 02 – Women of normal weight should stick to the current federal guidelines of gaining about 25 to 35 pounds during their pregnancy for the healthiest outcomes for themselves and their children, Scandinavian researchers report.
"The frequency of complications [in pregnancy] was lowest in the group with the recommended Institute of Medicine weight gain," study author Dr. Inga Thorsdottir, a nutrition researcher at the Landspitali-University Hospital at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik, told Reuters Health.
