LONDON (Reuters Health) Apr 04 – Compared with conventional coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), the off-pump method appears to reduce in-hospital morbidity without compromising survival in the first few years following the procedure, according to a report published in the April 6th issue of The Lancet.
Previous reports have suggested that off-pump bypass offers many advantages over standard on-pump CABG. However, few randomized controlled trials have been conducted comparing the two and, so far, mid-term or long-term outcomes have not been reported.
