After liver transplantation in children, Doppler ultrasonography allows the detection and urgent revascularization of early hepatic artery thrombosis, according to a report in the November Archives of Surgery.
Hepatic artery thrombosis (HAT) within the first 2 weeks after pediatric liver transplantation can cause biliary complications and graft loss, the authors explain. Early detection and urgent revascularization could prevent the need for retransplantation.
