Magnetic endoscope imaging, a real-time, non-radiographic technique, could provide a reliable and accurate way of determining the anatomical position of the endoscope tip during colonoscopy and locating lesions, say researchers at St. Mark’s Hospital, London, England. They pointed out that while precise preoperative localising of advanced colorectal lesions directs the appropriate surgical management, the use of internal landmarks at colonoscopy may be inaccurate, making other methods necessary.
