Associations between juxtapapillary duodenal diverticula and several variables have been identified among patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ECRP).
Juxtapapillary duodenal diverticula is associated with advanced age, a difficult ECRP procedure, increased bleeding after endoscopic sphincterotomy, increased frequency of bile duct stones, recurrent common duct stones and gallbladder stones, investigators report.
The investigators, from the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, United States, conducted a retrospective case-control analysis including 2,925 patients who underwent 5,497 ECRP procedures.
