German investigators report that while the risk of type 2 diabetes is increased in men with high levels of C reactive protein (CRP), the association becomes insignificant after adjusting for body mass index, smoking and systolic hypertension.
They surmise that inflammation may be one mechanism by which known risk factors promote diabetes.
