Environmental Estrogens May Play Role in Male Infertility Without an Obvious Cause

Manmade chemicals with estrogenic effects may play a role in the deterioration of semen quality in some infertile men, according to a report in the December issue of Fertility and

Sterility.

Dr. Roya Rozati, of Mahavir Hospital and Research Center, Hyderabad, India, and colleagues measured levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and phthalate esters (PEs) in blood and semen samples from 21 men whose infertility did not have an obvious etiology.
