Consumers who said they had trouble getting good hospital care had four times as many infections and other complications than those who said they were satisfied with their care, according to a survey released Wednesday. Results of the 21,000-person survey and an investigation into hospital safety are incorporated into several articles in the January 2003 Consumer Reports.
The authors report that 22% of the survey respondents, who had recently been in the hospital or had cared for a family member who was hospitalized, were less than highly satisfied with their care.
