GlaxoSmithKline Plc. said on Tuesday that its genital herpes drug Valtrex (valacyclovir) has received an additional approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a one-day treatment for cold sores.
According to the British drugmaker, the approval was based on the results of two placebo-controlled studies involving more than 1,850 participants who had a history of recurrent cold sores.
