FDA Approves Phototherapy System for Dermatologic Conditions


WASHINGTON (Reuters Health) Jul 23 –

 TheraLight Inc., a privately held developer of light-based medical instruments, said on Tuesday that it received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its UV120-2 UVA/UVB phototherapy system for the treatment of psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic and seborrheic dermatitis.

The Carlsbad, California company said in a statement that the product is the first targeted phototherapy system to emit either UVA or UVB (operator selectable) bands of ultra-violet light.
