Effective Arthritis Treatment Improves Adverse Lipid Profiles

Active rheumatoid arthritis associated with elevated serum lipid levels improve significantly with the successful treatment of the underlying arthritis, according to a report in the August 15th American Journal of Medicine.

 Patients with rheumatoid arthritis or other chronic inflammatory diseases face an increased cardiovascular mortality, the authors explain, and untreated patients with rheumatoid arthritis were recently shown to have adverse lipid profiles.
