NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 29 –
Phase III testing of CVT-3146, a short-acting selective A2A adenosine receptor agonist, as an adjunctive pharmacologic agent in cardiac perfusion imaging will begin next year, CV Therapeutics Inc. said on Monday. CVT-3146 is believed to cause coronary vasodilation, resulting in coronary blood flow increase.
Because the drug selectively stimulates the A2A adenosine receptor, CV Therapeutics hopes it will prove free of side effects such as bradycardia and bronchoconstriction, which are associated with the stimulation of other adenosine receptor subtypes
