Light-To-moderate Wine Consumption Linked With Reduced Vascular Risk

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jun 21 –

More evidence of the benefits of wine has been provided by a new meta-analysis of studies of beer and wine consumption and vascular risk.

The Italy-based investigators found a significant relationship between light-to-moderate wine consumption and lower vascular risk. Dr. Licia Iacoviello from Consorzio Mario Negri Sud, Santa Maria Imbaro, and colleagues pooled data from 26 studies that estimated the vascular risk associated with drinking beer and wine.

Their findings appear in the June 18th issue of Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.
