NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Mar 22 – The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) have issued new practice guidelines for the treatment of unstable angina and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (MI). The new guidelines update those published in September 2000.
The most important changes are in the hospital use of antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy. These new recommendations are based on the results of clinical trials including the ESSENCE and TIMI trials.
