PDA, Not Paper or Web, Best at Point of Care

David Danar, MD Oct. 19, 2002 (San Diego) —

A personal digital assistant (PDA) may be a better way of delivering clinical information at the point of care than paper- or Web-based tools, according to results of a pilot study presented Friday at the Annual Scientific Assembly of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

“The PDA reduced their cognitive workload,” Peter J. Ziemkowski, MD, of the Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies, said of the 10 residents and five faculty members who participated in the study.
