The UK Medical Devices Agency has issued an alert to healthcare professionals notifying them of the potential for radial fractures in Boston Scientific’s NIRoyal coronary stents following implantation .
According to the agency, there have been nine reports of radial fractures of the stents since March 2000. In eight of the nine cases, patients presented with recurrent angina, and six of the patients underwent re-intervention or a coronary artery bypass graft procedure.
