Czechs Believe Iraq ‘Very Likely’ Has Former USSR Smallpox Virus Stock


Czech military officials claim Saddam Hussein has acquired two ultra-virulent strains of smallpox to use against the West.

Jan Petras, head of health services for the Czech armed forces, quoting undisclosed sources, said it was “very likely” that Iraq had acquired a deadly smallpox strain from old USSR contacts.
