Since all the publicity of a possible association between measles-mumps-rubella vaccination and autism, first suggested in 1998, parents of autistic children tend to recall the onset of regressive symptoms as coinciding with MMR vaccination, UK researchers report.
Dr. E. Miller from the Public Health Laboratory Service, London, and colleagues compared the relative incidence of autism in relation to MMR vaccination in two studies using data for the same five districts in northeast London. The first, conducted in 1998, included data from 1979 to the end of 1997. The study undertaken in 2000 was based on diagnoses between 1998 and 2000.
