Depression in mothers within the first six weeks of delivery can adversely affect the growth and development of their infants, researchers from Goa, India, report. Postnatal depression is known to affect more than 10% of new mothers.
Its effect on infant growth and development has been reported from developed countries, but there is a paucity of similar reports from developing countries, Dr. V. Patel and colleagues write in the January issue of the Archives of the Disease in Childhood.
