Hemostasis Unchanged With Vaginally Administered High-dose Estradiol

In postmenopausal women given high-dose vaginal estradiol there was no significant change in hemostasis while climacteric symptoms were effectively reduced, according to the results of a pilot study.

Dr. Katarina Bremme and colleagues from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, treated eight women with three 17 beta-estradiol-releasing vaginal rings daily. Each ring released 7.5 g for a total of 22.5 g of estradiol per day. The women received new rings every morning for 2 weeks.
