Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who are treated with biofeedback are more likely to maintain improvements when medication is discontinued than similar patients who are not treated with biofeedback, US researchers report.
To test the value of biofeedback, Dr. Vincent J. Monastra, from the FPI Attention Disorders Clinic in Endicott, New York, and colleagues treated 100 children with ADHD with methylphenidate for one year. Parents also received counseling, and the children were given academic support.
