Although the incidence of invasive cervical cancer continues to decline in the US, the rates among Hispanic women are still twice as high as the rates in non-Hispanic women, according to a report in the November 27th issue of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
Dr. L. R. Armstrong and colleagues from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, collected data on the incidence of cervical cancer reported to the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program of the National Cancer Institute between 1992 and 1999.
